Practice

This time of year is difficult for many, and if you are newly on your own it can feel pretty bleak, especially if you set goals or intentions for yourself and never kept them or gave up on them already. I invite you to give yourself the gift of reflection, and review what has happened in your life this past decade, and what good has come from those experiences. Often we just look back at this past year, and sometimes the hardships haven’t revealed their gifts yet. If you are having difficulty finding the goodness, ask a good friend to help you with it. Then take a look at what new practice you can start to get yourself back on a better track.

I spoke with a client who had just the opposite happening with her- everything is going exactly how she hoped it would with her business, what she wanted to happen is happening, and she is stressed because she isn’t excited about it. We reviewed her values, her long term vision, everything was perfectly in alignment with where she was.  What caused the pain was an internal barrier, a belief she has that she ‘wasn’t a good person’ so therefore wasn’t deserving of having her dream business. That old belief pattern was so engrained (she’d been practicing it since a small child)  it was choking off her joy. She now has started a new practise of each time her ‘not being a good person’ tape comes up using that as a cue to flood herself with all the good that is happening in her life, all she has to be grateful for, and really feeling into that.

If you have practices that that you have discontinued, or a path you want to follow, now is the time to make the decision and go for it, and correct and continue when you get off course. Choose practices that keep you healthy, such as movement,  b-r-e-a-t-h-w-o-r-k, singing, feeling gratitude for all the beauty in your life and really connecting with those feelings.

I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas and comments…
